Skayl Announces Membership in The Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment Consortium

For immediate release

Westminster, MD – November 7, 2016 – Skayl, a leading developer and provider of data architecture tools and processes that address the scaling problems and difficulties of system of system integration, announced today that it is a member of the The Open Group Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE™) Consortium.

The FACE Consortium, founded in June 2010 by The Open Group, is working towards developing a government-industry software standard and business strategy for acquisition of affordable software systems that promotes innovation and rapid integration of portable capabilities across global defense programs.

While the founders of Skayl, Gordon Hunt and Chris Allport, have been supporting the development of the FACE Technical Standard for several years, this official membership enables a closer and committed working relationship with the FACE Consortium to support the adoption and implementation of FACE aligned products and capabilities.   “We are excited to be part of this vibrant and active team that is advancing interoperability” states Chris Allport.  “When we consider the growing complexity of today’s systems and system of systems, something different must be done, and the community is rigorously addressing and solving the interoperability scaling problem.”

Skayl, with its significant integration and architecture experience, has the tools and knowledge which can help the consortium reach their goals.

  • Standardized approaches & process models within avionics systems
  • Lower implementation costs of FACE software
  • Standards that support a robust architecture and quality software
  • Defined interoperability within systems with FACE components
  • Portability of FACE software  across multiple systems and vendors
  • Procurement of FACE conformant products
  • More capabilities reaching the Warfighter faster

“Having already served the consortium as advisors and industry liaisons and developed standard-related software tools, we are delighted to formalize our relationship with Skayl as associate members of the FACE Consortium.  We are looking forward to working with Skayl as their team continues to contribute to the development of the FACE Technical Standard and Data Architecture” states Judy Cerenzia, The Open Group FACE Consortium Director.
